What kind of vehicle is the 2025 Cadillac XT6? What does it compare to?
Cadillac’s XT6 is a three-row crossover SUV with plenty of interior room. Compare it to the Volvo XC90, a well-equipped Hyundai Palisade, and the BMW X5.
Is the 2025 Cadillac XT6 a good SUV?
The 2025 Cadillac XT6 looks good outside and has a comfortable, if somewhat uninspired, cabin. Equipped with the V-6 engine and Cadillac’s slick Super Cruise system, it’s a great road-trip machine, but it’s also an expensive one. Overall, the XT6 is a decent choice that scores 6.2 out of 10 on the TCC scale. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What’s new for the 2025 Cadillac XT6?
The XT6 carries into 2025 unchanged.
This three-row crossover stretches about 199 inches long, making it the biggest Cadillac SUV shy of the gargantuan Escalade. It wears sharp exterior styling with some especially neat touches up front, but its cabin comes up a dullard against more dynamic competitors. On the bright side, the XT6 has plenty of interior space with comfortable front seats, a good second row, and a third row that can accommodate adults for shorter stints. It also has a spacious cargo area.
Skip the 235-hp turbo-4 that anchors the lineup in favor of the 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 included in Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. The V-6 is smooth, strong, and not all that much thirstier than the turbo-4, plus it can run on less-expensive regular unleaded (the turbo-4 needs premium.) A 9-speed automatic transmission does a good job shuffling power to the front or, optionally, all four wheels with either engine. But beware that the all-wheel-drive version has a front-wheel-drive mode. You very well might not remember to switch it back into all-wheel drive until you’re sliding through snow.
The XT6’s best driving asset is its comfortable ride—or maybe its available Super Cruise tech, which allows for stretches of eyes-on, hands-off driving on a wide range of highways. It’s a terrific system, though it’s also rather expensive to buy.
The XT6 has a mixed crash-test record now that the IIHS has re-evaluated it using its latest criteria. Last year’s Top Safety Pick award has given way to several “Poor” blemishes that dent it in our ratings system.
How much does the 2025 Cadillac XT6 cost?
The XT6 starts around $51,000 and can climb quickly from there. Base Luxury versions are pretty well outfitted with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, and a big sunroof. But you’ll want to step up to the mid-level Premium Luxury for its V-6 engine. It’s also the gateway to far more driver-assistance tech and luxury features.
Where is the 2025 Cadillac XT6 made?
Spring Hill, Tennessee.
